April Club · Bristol & the South West

For the events you'd rather not walk into alone.

April is a women-run plus-one service for adults over 30. We accompany members to weddings, dinners, the theatre and work functions as genuinely good company — so you arrive with someone, and the evening is easier from the door.

Platonic. Arranged in advance. Always in public. Not a date, not an escort, not another app.

April Evenings

Some evenings are simply harder on your own.

  • The wedding three hours away, where you'd be the only one on your table arriving alone.
  • The work reception where everyone else seems to have come as a pair.
  • The concert you booked back in spring and then nearly talked yourself out of.
  • The milestone birthday you'd quietly rather not mark on your own.

You bring the occasion. We bring someone who's easy to talk to, good in a room full of strangers, and gone by the agreed finish — no follow-up, no complication.

Where we come in

The occasions members book most.

  • Weddings — ceremonies and receptions where arriving with someone takes the edge off the day.
  • Dinners — a restaurant table that's better with conversation across it.
  • Theatre & concerts — the whole evening planned around the curtain, not just the seat beside you.
  • Work & networking — receptions and award nights where walking in with company makes the room workable.
  • Parties & celebrations — birthdays and gatherings you'd rather not attend solo.

Why not just go alone — or use an app?

Going alone is fine, until it's the third hour and you've run out of people to talk to.

A dating app is the wrong tool for this. You're not after chemistry, a second date, or the small performance of being interested. You want one specific thing: someone who is good company on Saturday, fits the occasion, and whom you never have to think about again. That's the entire job April does — and it's the reason members keep a plus-one on hand the way they'd keep a good tailor or a trusted hairdresser.

"I stopped turning down invitations. That's the part I didn't expect."

Four steps, no surprises.

1

Apply

A short, confidential application so we know who we're meeting.

2

Verify

We confirm your age and ID, then approve members who are a fit.

3

Request

Tell us the occasion, the venue and the date.

4

Attend

You arrive with company; we've handled the rest.

The boundaries are the point.

April is run by women, and we've built it the way we'd want a service like this to work. Bookings happen in public venues, never private homes or hotel rooms. Members are 30 or over and verified before they join. Everything is platonic, and we're comfortable turning away anyone who'd prefer otherwise.

None of this is window-dressing — it's what lets both members and companions relax into the evening. Read how we work →

Membership

You apply; not everyone is taken on.

April runs as a membership rather than a booking app, and the difference matters. We meet people before we work with them, we keep numbers manageable, and we'd rather decline than take on someone who isn't a fit. It's what keeps the experience calm for everyone involved.

Before you ask.

Is this an escort or dating service?

No — and we mean that plainly. April is platonic and strictly non-sexual. We provide good company at public events, nothing else, and we decline anyone looking for more.

What do I tell people on the night?

Whatever you're comfortable with. Most members introduce their companion as a friend, and we take our cue from you. No one needs to know the arrangement.

What can I book for?

Weddings, dinners, theatre and concerts, work receptions, parties and other public occasions across Bristol and the South West.

How private is it?

Entirely. We don't share member details, and discretion is the default in everything we do.
